Shannon Kenney
Shannon Kenney, 27, is project director of the Coalition for Education on Sexual Orientation (CESO), a 43-member group of organizations working together to ensure the safety and well-being of LGBT youth in Illinois through research, education, public policy and youth involvement. In 2004 alone, the coalition trained over 1,700 school personnel, social service providers and youth in a program called Safety for All:Addressing Anti-LGBT Violence. In addition, she is co-chair of the Education and Training Committee and a member of the board of directors for GLSEN Chicago. She also was a presenter at the National Multicultural Summit in Los Angeles this past January, where she discussed best practices in school-based trainings on LGBT issues.
DID YOU KNOW? The only states Shannon has not visited are Alaska and Louisiana. Also, she and her partner will be united in a commitment ceremony this October.
