Considering that Talia Stein is only 18, the number of things she has done is simply amazing. At Stevenson High School, she founded the school’s gay-straight alliance and served as its president. She also served as the co-chair of the GLSEN Chicago youth committee and became the first high school student to sit on the organization’s board of directors. Also, in conjunction with GLSEN, she has served as student organizer and then Midwest student co-chair of the group’s National Jump-Start Leadership Team. In addition, Talia has organized three GLSEN Chicago youth summits and two Night of Noise rallies and has participated or presented at several leadership retreats. She even has served as regional president of the B’nai B’rith Youth Organization.
DID YOU KNOW? Even with her plate being full, Talia still managed to rank in the top five percent of her class with a course load filled with honors and advanced-placement classes.
