A little more than a month after New Orleans weathered the wrath of Hurricane Katrina, signs of life are returning. Doug Minich, president of the New Orleans LGBT motorcycle club known as Cavaliers MC, e-mailed Windy City Times that the organization will resume events at the end of the month.
The Cavaliers will kick things off with the First Post Katrina Beer Bust on Oct. 29 in the French Quarter of the city. The group also announced that it will resume its ride schedule with a weekend camping trip to Spring Creek Campground in Geneva, Ala., for their Gay Biker Weekend Nov. 4-6.
According to TheState.com, the French Quarter was relatively undamaged by Katrina. Eighty percent of downtown hotels will be back to normal by the end of this month, but rooms are needed for recovery workers and hotel staff.
