Amigas Latinas, a support and advocacy organization for Latina lesbian, bisexual and questioning (LBQ) women, will hold its Ten-Year Diamond Anniversary & Scholarship Dinner Nov. 5, 7 p.m. at Garden Manor, 4722 W. Armitage.

Amigas Latinas actually celebrated its 10th anniversary July 16. The group numbers approximately 300 women and programs include monthly topical discussions; legal, education and health workshops; advocacy training with community providers; support groups in Spanish and English; and child-focused family activities.

Some of the proceeds from the dinner will be used to provide scholarships for Latina lesbian and bisexual student activists promoting tolerance in their schools. Scholarships are awarded annually in association with GLSEN (Gay, Lesbian, Straight Education Network) Chicago during its Youth Scholarship Awards Night which is held each spring. To date, Amigas has awarded 11 scholarships.
