Members of Asians and Friends Chicago hosted a Kimono-themed holiday party tied to the release of the movie, Memoirs of a Geisha. The party featured a kimono-making costume parade and a wet-T-shirt contest, with ‘Geisha’ T-shirts and fans provided by promoters of the Sony film. About 30 members attended the event, which was held at a condominium on the city’s North Side. ‘The movie debut provided an Asian tie to the holidays and gave us a fun theme to work with for this year’s holiday festivities,’ said Angel Abcede, president of Asians and Friends. The organization puts together social events for gay Asian men and those interested in Asian cultures. See www.afchicago.org.
