Brown Couch Theatre Company begins its 2006 season with Stop Kiss by Diana Son, opening Jan. 20 at the Viaduct Theatre, 3111 N. Western. When Callie and Sara first meet in a cramped New York apartment, they did not expect to fall in love; but Callie is surprised to find herself caught between the safety of isolation and the excitement of a new relationship. The audience sees the burgeoning romance, alternating with scenes taking place after a brutal beating on the night of their first kiss. But playwright Diana Son is quick to point out that the events of that night are not the focus of the story.

Performances continue through Feb. 11; $15 ($13 for students/seniors). Viaduct is wheelchair accessible. Call (312) 409-2010 or www.BrownCouchTheatre.org.
