The opening reception for Richard Lee Gray’s ‘We Are Here: Images of African-American Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender People,’ by Richard Lee Gray will be held from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Feb. 3, at Steelelife Gallery, 4655 S. King Drive, 2nd Floor.

Gray said in a statement that the exhibit results from his ‘commitment to highlight images of African-American same-gender-loving people. It is a naming project meant to put a face on the diversity within the larger Black community.’

The event is co-sponsored by several organizations and businesses, including the Chicago Commission on Human Relations’ Advisory Council on Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Issues; Steelelife Gallery; Stephen Kelly Gallery; and The Black Gay Men’s Caucus of the Chicago Department of Public Health. ‘We Are Here’ will be on exhibit at Steelelife Gallery through Feb. 17.
