Mark E. Wojcik, a professor at The John Marshall Law School in Chicago, is one of two candidates seeking the office of Third Vice President of the Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA).

Wojcik is the first openly gay candidate seeking to lead the ISBA. He is running as an openly gay candidate ‘as an affirmation of the state’s new non-discrimination law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation,’ according to an item he released. The Illinois State Bar Association, with more than 30,000 lawyer members, is the largest voluntary state bar association in the nation.

The person who wins that office will eventually become president of the state bar association in 2009. Attorney members of the state bar association will receive ballots in April. Ballots will be countedon May 10, 2006.
