The 41st Annual Andersonville Midsommarfest will take place June 10 and 11 from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m each day, from 5200-5400 N. Clark. An entrance donation of $5 is requested. About 50,000 attendees are expected.
Like most outdoor events in Chicago, Midsommarfest will feature a mix of food and music. However, the festival is unique in that some of the entertainment and eats will reflect the community’s Swedish history.
Some of the features that people can see or experience include children’s activities with the Chicago’s Children’s Museum; various handicrafts; and musical acts like The J Davis Trio, The Waco Brothers and the all-female cover band Catfight.
All proceeds will benefit the Andersonville Chamber of Commerce and its small-business programs.
In a related development, Better Existence with HIV (BEHIV) and @mosphere, 5355 N. Clark, are teaming up to raise money to assist the organization. During Midsommerfest, @mosphere will distribute coupons good for a $1 Jell-O shot purchase, redeemable at @mosphere from June 13-18. Fifty cents from each shot will be donated to BEHIV. E-mail ericnelson@behiv.org or call 847-475-2115.
