Claudia Mosqueda was born and raised in Chicago’s Southwest Side neighborhood La Villita. She attended elementary and high school in the Chicago Public School system, and received a B.A. in secondary education with a concentration in Spanish through DePaul University in Chicago. She has a M.Ed. in bilingual/bicultural education from DePaul University with further endorsements in English as a Second Language. Claudia will be completing her second masters in School Leadership this summer in hopes of being a principal one day.

Currently, Claudia is teaching Spanish for native and non-native speakers at a Southwest Side Chicago public high school and is also the women’s soccer team head coach.

Recently, Claudia has been helping to create a queer teacher organization (QTO) for educators across the Chicagoland area. The goals of this organization are to build solidarity between LGBTQ teachers in the Chicagoland area and to establish more queer-friendly curricula and policies.

DID YOU KNOW? Claudia’s first pet ever came into her life a little over a year ago—Mr. Turtle, born in Miami, now living in Chicago.
