Jessica Dubuar, 29, has worked at Howard Brown Health Center for six years as the agency’s HIV-positive adolescent program coordinator and case manager. This nationally recognized program provides HIV-positive youth aged 12-24, from across the city, with comprehensive health and wellness services, including medical care, therapy, case management and social support. As a case manager, Jessica works with clients to identify needs related to medical care, mental health, substance abuse, housing, education and other basic needs, and then partners with them to ensure that they are connected to care.
For more then five years, as part of the HIV-positive adolescent program, Jessica has also co-facilitated a support group for HIV positive youth ages 16–24. This group provides youth living with HIV a safe space to connect with people who are sharing similar experiences and gain peer-support around issues like disclosure, dating and sexuality.
In addition to her work with Howard Brown’s HIV adolescent program, Jessica also provides programmatic support to the services offered to LGBTQ and homeless youth at the Broadway Youth Center, including daily drop-in and Friday evening programming.
