Nako Okubo, 25, practically leads a double life. By day, she is a graphic designer with many clients from within the queer community, and has donated services to organizations such as Howard Brown Health Center, Sissy Butch Brothers and the Lesbian Community Cancer Project. By night, Nako is a performer and producer who has traveled and performed in a variety of troupes such as Mobtown Moxie Revue, A Sordid Collective, G-Force Chicago and has just returned from a whistle-stop tour of the northeast with XXX: Esoterica. She has also been seen performing with Chix Mix Productions and the Chicago Kings, and her time off-stage is spent as the artistic director and co-producer of Heartless B!tch Entertainment, which hosts monthly drag/burlesque/dance shows to benefit local artists.
DID YOU KNOW? Nako’s earlier memories (and potential root) include being obsessed with rainbows and choreographing solo dance performances to ABBA’s ‘Waterloo.’
