Amigas Latinas, a support, education and advocacy organization for LBQ women of Latina heritage, has hired a staff member—the first for the 11-year-old organization.

Jacqueline Luna, who has been hired as an administrative assistant, is a queer Latina activist who is focusing her energy on creating positive change and awareness within and between the LGBTQ, Latino and immigrant communities, according to a press release.

Luna, a 2004 graduate of DePaul University, was a case manager at Rainbow House and is an active member of the Chicago LGBTQ Immigrant Alliance.

As the administrative assistant to Amigas Latinas, Luna will help the organization streamline its administrative structure and systems as well as ensure that its programs run smoothly. She also plans to continue her work within the domestic violence movement by contributing to Proyecto Basta! (Project ENOUGH!)
