Acclaimed photographer Victor Skrebneski held a showing of his portraits of various Gay Games athletes at the Water Tower Building, 806 N. Michigan July 14. (The photographs will be shown until Oct. 9.)
He told Windy City Times that photographing the athletes was an honor. ‘ [It was] a complete pleasure. I did it for Mayor Daley and [Chicago Commissioner of Cultural Affairs] Lois Weisberg; I’d do anything for them. It was as much fun as what I do every day.’ When asked if there’s anyone he wanted to capture with his lens, Skrebneski said, ‘Judy Garland. I would’ve liked to have photographed her.’
