Guy Adams, an Illinois anti-gay activist who serves as deputy national grassroots director of Renew America—which is run by conservative talk-show host and former U.S. senatorial candidate Alan Keyes—told Internet radio-show host Stacy L. Harp that the newest trend involving gays is ‘sex with infants.’

Adams appeared on Harp’s show to discuss the 2006 Gay Games, which took place July 15-22 in Chicago. From the onset, Adams attacked homosexuality, calling it a ‘perversion.’ Then, he made a connection between gays and infant pedophilia, although he had no evidence to support his claim. He also dismissed the accomplishments of the GLBT community, saying that their contributions amounted to ‘AIDS and pornography,’ according to 365Gay.com.

Wayne Besen, the executive director of Truth Wins Out, has called the remarks ‘a new low in gay bashing’ and urged Keyes to distance himself from Adams’ remarks. However, Keyes has yet to respond.

On its Web site, Renew America calls itself ‘a grassroots organization that supports the ‘Declarationist’ ideals of Alan Keyes’ and that advances ‘the cause of our nation’s Founders.’ Truth Wins OUT is an advocacy organization that aims to ‘counter right-wing misinformation campaigns, debunk the ex-gay myth and provide accurate information about the lives of GLBT people.’
