The Fairy Gardeners Guild will celebrate its 10th anniversary on Aug. 20. The organization had its first meeting in the backyard of Dennis LoBue and Darwin Corrin in August 1996—and will mark the milestone in the same backyard at 1526 West Juneway Terrace at 3 p.m. with its traditional pot lock dinner. The picnic will also include a raffle of donated garden-related items donated by the membership.
The guild holds monthly meetings to discuss a variety of topics that revolve around gardening. Issues range from attracting hummingbirds to potting plants. The guild’s membership is open to all interested individuals and currently has an active membership of about 70 gays and lesbians from the city and the suburbs.
