The Joel Hall Dance Center has announced that it has successfully met the challenge grant of the Gaylord and Dorothy Donnelley Foundation.

The foundation, according to its Web site, ‘honors the values and legacy of our founders by focusing on two of the conditions crucial to vital human communities: a healthy natural environment and artistic vitality.’ Also, the organization concentrates only on two geographical regions: Chicago and the lowcountry of South Carolina.

The foundation bestowed a $20,000 grant in 2003. Recent recipients of grants have ranged from Chicago’s Congo Square Theatre Company to the South Carolina Department of Education.
