A sold-out audience of 1,500 guests helped raise more than $170,000 at the 15th anniversary of Dance for Life, according to a press release. The event was held at the Harris Theater for Music and Dance, 205 E. Randolph on Aug. 26.
The event brought together six of Chicago’s top dance companies to raise funds for the AIDS Foundation of Chicago (AFC), Bonaventure House, Interfaith House, Luck Care Center and the Dance for Life Fund. Dance for Life was produced and co-founded by Ruth Page Award winner Keith Elliott; in addition, WGN-TV and WGN Radio entertainment critic and reporter Dean Richards hosted the affair.
Among the troupes that performed were the Muntu Dance Theater, Thodos Dance Chicago, Giordano Jazz Dance Chicago, the Joffrey Ballet, Culture Shock Dance Troupe, River North Chicago Dance Company and Hubbard Street Dance Chicago. The grand finale, ‘Journey,’ featured dancers from five of the dance companies performing together and was choreographed by the acclaimed Randy Duncan.
