Howard Brown Health Center (HBHC) has announced that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has awarded a three-year, $950,000 grant to develop and test a culturally tailored HIV intervention for African-American MSM (men who have sex with men).

Principal investigator Dr. David McKirnan, Ph.D.—of The University of Illinois at Chicago and HBHC—will team with HIV prevention experts at the South Side Help Center (SSHC), a long-standing HIV prevention and direct-care agency on the south side of Chicago.

‘We are pleased and excited about this collaboration with South Side Help Center,’ Michael Cook, Howard Brown President and CEO, declared in a statement. ‘This project opens the doors to future research and programmatic partnerships around HIV prevention, particularly in communities of color where they are most needed.’
