Legendary actress Tippi Hedren, probably best known from her role in the Alfred Hitchcock movie The Birds, will appear at a special performance of the Hell in a Handbag production of Caged Dames. The event will take place Oct. 19 at Bailiwick Repertory Theatre, 1229 W. Belmont, at 8 p.m.

Caged Dames, by David Cerda, is a musical parody of 1950s women in prison/exploitation films that tells the tale of an innocent young woman who eventually finds herself in the Calumet City Women’s Penitentiary.

The performance will benefit Hedren’s Roar Foundation and Shambala Preserve. The charitable organization provides sanctuary for exotic animals—some of whom have suffered gross mistreatment and neglect.

Admission is $35, including a pre-show reception with Hedren at Joey’s Brickhouse, 1258 W. Belmont, 6-7:30 p.m. Call the theatre box office at 773-883-1090 for more info.
