Two seasons back, an inventive Bohemian Theatre Ensemble production revealed the dramatic and musical strengths of Andrew Lippa’s The Wild Party, a show that had failed in New York. Now Lippa returns with the world premiere of a new musical comedy, Asphalt Beach, in which a rag-tag group of misfit adolescents struggles to break the iron grip of Sister Severia at Our Lady of Suppressed Desire Academy for Rambunctious Girls. Lippa provides music and lyrics for the new show, with a book by T. C. Smith and Peter Spears. Presented by the American Musical Theatre Project at Northwestern University, Asphalt Beach runs through Nov. 12; Louis Theatre; 847-491-7282; $25.
