Howard Brown Health Center has announced that Armand R. Cerbone, Ph.D., has been appointed as its new director of behavioral health.
Cerbone has a long career in mental health. A Ph.D. graduate of Notre Dame, he has been in private practice since 1978, specializing in the fields of HIV/AIDS, issues in the GLBT community, and suicide. He is a licensed clinical psychologist and a diplomate in clinical psychology, and serves on the adjunct faculty of the Chicago School of Professional Psychology.
He is the first openly gay president of the Illinois Psychological Association, and is a National Advisory Board Member of the Chicago Training Collaborative.
In addition, he has received numerous awards and recognitions, including being named a Distinguished Psychologist by the Illinois Psychological Association. He is also a 2003 inductee into the City of Chicago Gay and Lesbian Hall of Fame.
