It may not have Judy Garland or Margaret O’Brien, but The Trolley Song is there and Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas. This stage version of Meet Me in St. Louis is based on the famous 1940s movie musical about family, young love and World’s Fair fever. It wasn’t a Broadway hit 20 years ago when they let spectacle overwhelm the story’s inherent warmth. But that isn’t a problem on Circle Theatre’s intimate stage, although the music and dance are grander than you might think possible within the compact dimensions. Meet Me in St. Louis runs through Dec. 30, Circle Theatre, 7300 W. Madison, Forest Park; 708-771-0700; $24.
