The controversial Pegasus Productions work known as Choice will run Jan. 17-Feb. 11 at Chicago’s Prop Thtr, 3502 N. Elston. It will run on Wednesdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 7 p.m.
The play, written and performed by Courtney Berne, and directed by Jemma Alix Levy, is a one-woman show based on personal experiences working in an abortion clinic. By interlacing the intricate stories of nine patients, two abortion providers and one narrator, Berne explores the many facets of abortion.
Choice enjoyed a showcase run at Prop Thtr on June 2 and 3, 2006. It received readings in Stockyards Theatre Project’s Play for Keeps in September at the North Lakeside Cultural Center, as well as in Stockyard’s 7th Annual Women’s Performance Art Festival that ran Oct. 20-22 at Links Hall, 3435 N. Sheffield.
Tickets are $15. (Those for the Jan. 17 preview night tickets are $10.) Tickets may be purchased by calling the Prop Thtr box office at 773-539-7838. Also, see www.propthtr.org.
