Team Chicago co-chair Peg Grey was recently named as an honorary lifetime member of the Federation of Gay Games (FGG) at the 2006 FGG annual meeting, held in Lyon, France.
Grey was a charter member of the body as (Gay Games) San Francisco that eventually became the international organization known as the FGG. She was elected female co-chair of the newly formed organization and served on the FGG Board through the mid-1990s.
Grey became active again with Team Chicago and the FGG when the Chicago Gay Games’ organizers were promoting a bid for the Games to be held in Chicago. Grey’s volleyball team, The Golden Girls, competed successfully in Chicago, winning a bronze medal in the Women’s B Division.
Among the others also granted lifetime memberships was Paris’ Roberto Mantaci, the outgoing FGG male co-chair.
Grey was named an honorary lifetime member of Team Chicago in 2002.
