Stores in the downtown area will be dropping off semi-used or semi-damaged items that they cannot sell for homeless LGBT youth to pick up for free at the Youth Pride Center’s ‘Hope Store,’ 637 S. Dearborn, every Tuesday in February at 1-4 p.m. Clothing and household-item donations from the community may also be available.
From television sets to roller blades to coats to baby clothes, the ‘Hope Store’ will allow LGBT youth aged 13 to 23 to select three items per visit. Youth with a referral from a case manager may select as many items as needed. Case managers can also call the Youth Pride Center ahead on Mondays to see what new items have arrived.
For more information, call 312-386-1383. To make donations to the ‘Hope Store’ business or individual, call 773-729-0127 and leave a message.
