As I’ve stated before in this very column, there’s nothing so sickly satisfying as when a drag queen falls. There just something so agonizingly tragic about it. Hopefully, she can get up, laugh at herself and go on with the show. So while at Hunters to catch Tajma Hall’s twice-monthly revue to raise money to support her Continental bid (I hear she’s formed an exploratory committee), I had to jot to the little editor’s room for a moment. As I exited the bathroom, a certain drag queen (not Taj), fresh from her first number, steamed by me in a frustrated huff. I figured it was run-of-the-mill show jitters. But Pubert informed that I had missed the tumble. Rats! Proud to report, though, that she had the dignity and grace to soldier on. Way to go, boygirl!

Congrats to Mr. Chicago Leather 2007 J.C. Cestou! Pubes and I arrived at Touché just as the festivities were ending, but still in plenty of time to get some great shots of the winner. All of the stars were there: Mr. Chicago Leather 2006 Robin Czar, Mr. Chicago Leather 2005 Jeff Willoughby, Mr. Chicago Leather 2004 Joe Arteaga, and International Messers Leather Bo Ladashevska (2006) and Michael Egdes (2005). I just dropped so many names I think I’ve gone down a pant size!

Still waiting for some brainy individual out there to bring it on with the Word Builder game at Sofo. I’ll take all comers… you heard me!

By the way, Timmy, good lookin’ out.

Luckily I reminded Cynthia that Amy & Freddy were running the Wednesday night show at @mosphere. I became an honorary dyke that night. I had my vagina bronzed and it’s hanging on my wall as we speak.

In the upcoming week, here are some must-dos to do: On Friday, February 9, hike out to Temptations to catch Stella Productions’ ‘Valentine’s Sweethearts,’ featuring a Heart of America Continental cast. The annual staff turnabout drag show at Bobby Love’s takes place Saturday, February 10. Celebrate Mimi Marks’ 40th birthday in style at The Baton on Sunday, February 11, with two-for-one admission at the door. Nerd out on Monday, February 12 at Guthrie’s Tavern at 1300 W. Addison for the Dating For Queer Nerds event.

Happy Valentine’s Day, by the way. Who among us didn’t have the Zach Morris or A.C. Slater fantasy as a young pup? I was always more of a Zach guy. This week’s cover fills the bill for all your plastic pederasty needs. We are proud to feature Justin Boltz’s great interview with famed gay advice columnist Dan Savage, as well as part four in our yearly series of Nightspots Valentine’s cards. I’m sure I’ll be getting a job offer from Hallmark any day now. Or a cease and desist…
