Faith and begorrah, what a sight to behold on this week’s cover! Brady and Dave really know how to make a sham rock (it was either that or some hackneyed joke about shillelaghs). Kudos to Ryan K. for setting up that amazing shot. For more of Dave’s delicious luck, stop into Cocktail.
This year’s Gay Idol is like a hibernating bear that emerges from the cave in full sequins and puts on a Liza Minnelli number… in six-inch heels, no less. In other words, looks like this year is going to be a raging success, judging by the kickoff night at StarGaze. Fifteen singers (well, most of them were singers, in the traditional sense) turned out to a packed house. Congrats to Marla and Suzi, both of whom will give stiff competition at the semi-finals in June at Sidetrack.
More next week on Hydrate’s Gay Idol, which only got more nuts.
So it’s all over but the hangovers for ol’ Nutbush City Limits. Above is the last picture of the Triplets of Ballville, who now must disband to find their own fortunes in this cruel mistress of a life. Check out page 24 for a bunch of pictures (some I maybe shouldn’t have printed, but what the hell!).
Good to see my friend Alex at Mary’s Attic on Wednesday for Tawdry Audrey’s Maryoke. He asked me to take the picture of him and the birthday boy (and everyone else north of the Mason-Dixon) that appears in the Spread. Apparently Audrey felt his pee-pee during a dollar-tip-shoving and announced it to the crowd, after which all bets were off. What else was off, I ponder…
Happy 38th Anniversary to Jim Flint and all the Baton girls. Celebrate with them March 15-18.
