The House Theatre of Chicago is on a roll. Their most recent hit show, The Sparrow, has transferred to the Steppenwolf Garage (Merle Reskin) Theatre for a six-week run, so catch it now if you missed it before. The Sparrow concerns a teenage girl with superpowers in a small Midwestern town. Yeah, a little Smallville, a little Buffy and a little Carrie but minus the demons and creeps, and with a ton of compassion and heart. Anything but maudlin, The Sparrow features the House’s signature theatricalism, live music and bold physical staging. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll come back for more!

Through April 21, 1650 N. Halsted (garage); 312-335-1650; $25.
