Jonathan Abarbanel has been Windy City Times’ theater editor since 2000. A multiple award-winning writer, Jonathan is a senior contributor to Chicago Footlights, PerformInk and TheaterMania.com, and is one of Chicago Public Radio’s Dueling Critics. Jonathan graduated magna cum laude from Tufts University (in Boston), and also studied theater in London. He’s worked professionally as an actor, a dramaturg/literary manager and as a playwright/lyricist. His stage works have been produced in Chicago, Milwaukee, New York (off-Broadway) and London, and broadcast nationally on WFMT. Jonathan is a long-time member of the American Theatre Critics Association and is a site reporter for the National Endowment for the Arts. A confessed technology dinosaur, Jonathan doesn’t own a cell phone and eats blackberries. He loves travel (having been privileged to see much of the world) and most things aquatic (scuba, sailing, rafting, etc.), except fishing. Jonathan says, ‘Scratch a cynic and you’ll find a failed romantic.’
