In honor of Asian Heritage Month and Asian HIV/AIDS Awareness Day—both in May—Asian Human Services Banyan Tree Program is holding its 3rd Annual Banyan Tree Essay Contest.
In two typed, double-spaced pages, participants are asked to write about one of four topics: how HIV/AIDS has affected communities; barriers stopping Asian youth from learning about HIV/AIDS prevention; cultural stigma; and the experiences, strengths and goals of a gay Asian/Pacific Islander man.
The contest deadline is April 16. (Awards will be announced May 4.) Send entries to: Michelle Ngan, Asian Human Services, 4753 N. Broadway, Suite 700, Chicago, IL 60640. For more info, e-mail mngan@ahschicago.org or call 773-293-8480.
