The Alliance for Women, The Asian American Bar Association, The Black Women Lawyer’s Association, The Chicago Bar Association’s Human Rights Committee, The Lesbian and Gay Bar Association and The Women’s Bar Association will hold a forum that will focus on human-rights conditions in the Darfur area of the Sudan. The seminar will take place May 14, 9 a.m.-9 p.m.
There will be three sessions. The morning forum, ‘Darfur through the Eyes of its Women and Children,’ will feature professor Bernadine Dohrn and U.S. Rep. Jan Schakowsky, D-Ill., among its panelists.
‘Darfur Compared to Sierra Leone’ (the lunch session) will feature Ambassador J.D. Bindenagel of DePaul University, while ‘Efforts by the UN and Nations Including the United States to Stop Genocide and Violence,’ will have University of Chicago instructor Babfemi Akinrinade in its panel. A dinner and reception will follow the last program.
