The Investigator, a 1997 British film that centers around a ‘witch hunt’ for lesbians in the military, is out on DVD.
The movie stars Helen Baxendale as Staff Sergeant Caroline Meagher, as the film traces the true story of Meagher’s experience in the 1980s as an investigator with the Royal Military Police. Until 1994, homosexuality was a criminal offense in the British military, and suspected offenders were vigorously and sometimes brutally pursued. After agreeing to help search for suspected lesbians, Meagher comes to terms with her own sexuality, and ends up on the other side of the hunt.
