D. L. Coburn’s The Gin Game is a tour-de-force acting opportunity for two actors ‘of a certain age,’ as the old euphemism goes. Well, you can’t find two better actors of a certain age than Ann Whitney and towering Tony Mockus. As inhabitants of a retirement home meeting over the card table, they get under each others’ skin like nobody’s business, and come to know just about everything about each other in this sharply-written serious comedy. Brian Russell directs these great veterans, who have 120 years of theater experience between the two of them.
