Asians and Friends Chicago had its first night of mahjong for LGBT individuals on June 16—and a promising crowd of 16 people showed up.
Future nights will take place on the third Saturday of each month (July 21 and Aug. 18) at Marc Rubin’s Chicago Room Gallery, 3318 N. Halsted. An introductory session will start at 7:30 p.m., and play will take place 8-10 p.m.
Mahjong is usually played by four people who use 144 tiles. The goal is to collect winning sets of these tiles.
It’s BYOB with a $7 corking fee; there’s also complimentary coffee and tea. RSVP at www.afchicago.org or 312-409-1573.
