Dance for Life took place Sat., Aug. 18, at the the Harris Theater for Music and Dance, 205 E. Randolph. Among the troupes that thrilled the packed venue was Giordano Jazz Dance Chicago.

The 16th annual Dance for Life was held Aug. 18 at the Harris Theater for Music and Dance, 205 E. Randolph. Among the troupes that performed were The Joffrey Ballet, Giordano Jazz Dance Chicago, CHIBAM!, Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, River North Chicago Dance Company and Luna Negra Dance Theater; in addition, there was an original finale choreographed by Randy Duncan (on the left in the lower left picture) that featured members of several troupes as well as independent dancers. (The event was hosted by WGN-TV’s Dean Richards, dressed as Hairspray’s Edna Turnblad at the start.) Before the dancing, guests were treated to global cuisine and drinks at a reception.
