AIDS Run & Walk Chicago will be held 10 a.m. on Sat., Sept. 15, at Columbus and Balbo in Grant Park. Proceeds benefit the grant-making program of the AIDS Foundation of Chicago.

In addition to a 5K run and a 5K walk, the event will also feature a ‘Fitness & Healthy Lifestyle Village,’ sponsored by the Illinois Department of Public Health. The village will feature product samplings, service demonstrations and information about HIV/AIDS-related services, among other things.

Among the pre-event musical entertainment will be 15-year-old Houston hop-hop artist J Xavier, who recently toured with acclaimed R&B/pop singer Chris Brown.

Since it was established in 2001, AIDS Run & Walk Chicago has netted more than $1 million to battle the epidemic. Registration cost is $20 in advance and $25 on-site. Registration materials and more information can be obtained by visiting www.aidsrunwalk.org or calling 312-334-0946.
