Academy Award-nominated actor Jane Alexander was in Chicago Sept. 30 for a staged reading of a new work by Tina Howe. Chasing Manet was presented by the Goodman Theatre’s New Stages Series, directed by Jason Loewith and co-starring Renee Matthews, among other fine actors. The play is about a woman in a nursing home and her attempts to escape to Paris in search of Manet’s scene from the Le déjeuner sur l’herbe painting. Alexander was regal and invincible as ever.
