A march in response to two unsolved anti-gay crimes will take place on the one-year anniversary of a New Year’s Eve shooting on Chicago South Side.

The Coalition for Justice and Respect and Critical Caucus recently announced a march against hate and violence that will take place Dec. 31 at 2 p.m. The theme of this year’s march is ‘Freedom Equality Justice Peace.’

The route will begin at 79th and Wabash, and continue to Jeffery.

This is the second community march in response to the Dec. 31, 2006, shooting. Six males were shot while attending a party attended by mostly Black gay men on the 7900 block of South Woodlawn. Recently, Larry Bland, a Black gay man, was also gunned down, according to a press release.
