A new season, a new location, a new music director adds up to lots of ‘news’ for Windy City Performing Arts (above), opening its 29th concert season with Home for the Holidays, Dec. 15-16. The concerts feature the Windy City Gay Chorus and Aria: Windy City Women’s Ensemble under newly-appointed music director Alan Wellman, a conductor, singer and teacher with substantial choral experience. Home for the Holidays will honor seasonal celebrations from Christmas to Hanukkah and span the globe with songs in English, German, Spanish, Hebrew and—everyone’s favorite—Yoruba. The Lakeside Pride Band also will play. Performances are at WCPA’s new home, the intimate Hoover-Leppen Theatre at the Center on Halsted, 3656 N. Halsted; 773-404-9242; $20.
