Tom Tunney, alderman of Chicago’s 44th ward, has stated concerns about the possibility of changing ownership of Wrigley Field and the ramifications of said change, according to The Chicago Tribune.

Tribune Co.—owner of the ballpark and the Chicago Cubs—is weighing the possibility of selling Wrigley Field to private investors or the Illinois Sports Facilities Authority. Tunney is concerned about ‘any use of tax dollars’ and the possibility of settled issues—such as the field’s landmark status–being re-negotiated.

(MSNBC.com reported Jan. 21 that a proposal to sell the ballpark to the authority has slowed progress on the Cubs’ sale. Team Chairman Crane Kenney said that Tribune Co. likely will own the team through the 2008 season.)
