Hundreds of patrons packed the International Ballroom of the Hilton Chicago, 720 S. Michigan, April 12 as the Center on Halsted held its Human First 2008 Gala. The black-tie-optional event featured, among other things, a performance by Lorna Luft and wit from the evening’s mistress of ceremonies, Kate Clinton. Among the attendees were Chicago Mayor Richard Daley and his wife, Maggie; and Dawn Clark Netsch. Patrick Sheahan was honored for his significant contributions with the LGBT community and its allies; in addition to other accomplishments, he was a significant force behind building the new Center.
