About Face Theatre held its annual Wonka Ball Thurs., May 15, at Gallery 1028, 1028 N. Hooker—and the event certainly did not disappoint. The funky gala featured silent-auction items; a segment featuring entertainer Mimi Marks and some very energetic dancers gyrating to Madonna and Justin Timberlake’s ‘4 Minutes;’ reality-TV stars such as Make Me a Supermodel’s Ronnie Kroell, Project Runway’s Steven Rosengard and Top Chef’s Dale Levitski; and unique nibbles/drinks like the do-it-yourself martinis that came with small tubes of vodka. In addition, outgoing About Face Artistic Director Eric Rosen and the Center on Halsted received The Leppen Leadership Awards, and new Artistic Director Bonnie Metzgar introduced herself to the crowd.
