‘Chic Chicago: Couture Treasures from the Chicago History Museum,’ opening Sept. 27, will provide the rare opportunity to see more than 50 of the greatest couture treasures from the collection of the museum, 1601 N. Clark. (However, a behind-the-scenes preparation area is currently on view.) The exhibition, which will feature examples of the history of fashion from 1861 through 1996, will showcase Gilded Age gowns by Worth and Pingat to modern masterpieces by Chanel and Versace.
The exhibition will run through July 26, 2009, and there will be programming connected with it, such as an Oct. 19 showing of the Isaac Mizrahi film Unzipped. See www.chicagohistory.org for more info.
