Out author Jim Grimsley is best known in these parts for the stage adaptation of his novel Dream Boy, done by About Face Theatre nearly a decade back. Now newcomer Ludicrous Theatre Company takes on a more recent Grimsley work, his play Math and Aftermath, a surreal trip to Bikini Atoll, site of hydrogen bomb tests in 1954. In Grimsley’s impossible landscape, a blockbuster gay porn film is being shot on Bikini Atoll the day before the h-bomb blow. It’s passion and lust—some of it in leather—against the backdrop of the 1950’s and the nuclear scare (hey, we’re still scared). Math and Aftermath runs through June 21 only; a Pride Month project of Ludicrous at BoHo Theatre, 7016 N. Glenwood; 630-674-4694; $15. Photo by Steve Starr
