Demetrius really loves Lysander and Helena really loves Hermia and as for all those fairies … well, the less said the better! That’s not how Shakespeare actually wrote A Midsummer Night’s Dream, but it’s how he should have written it in the eyes of MidTangent (sic) Productions and its youthful founder/director Tony Lewis. And so, for the fourth consecutive year (and the final year), MidTangent offers A Midsummer Night’s Dream: A Queer Tale, an extravagant and fantastical LGBT take on Shakespeare’s fantastical play about love requited and not in a magical forest. Or perhaps it’s an urban jungle. Midsummer/Queer runs through Aug. 3 at the National Pastime Theatre, 4139 N. Broadway; 1-800-595-4849; $25.
