The Boys from Syracuse, Drury Lane Oak Brook, through Sept. 28. David H. Bell’s 1930s swing updating of Rodgers & Hart’s take on Shakespeare’s Comedy of Errors is a fizzy and fun laugh riot. SCM

Fake Lake, The Neo-Futurists at Welles Park, through Sept. 19. Summer and innocence both fade, but playgoers who sighed over Gidget’s coming-of-age can revel in the aquatic adventures of another young pilgrim—as recounted poolside in Lincoln Square. MSB

The Full Monty, Marriott Lincolnshire, through Sept. 21. Scott Alan Jones in a slut-red G-string, Marc Robin’s barn-burning choreography, the sweetest gay love story this side of ‘La Cage’—the big payoff’s something of a tease, but it’s also flat-out hilarious. CS

The Threepenny Opera, The Hypocrites at Steppenwolf Garage, through Oct. 12. The legendary Bert Brecht/Kurt Weill musical, not seen here in ages, in Marc Blitzstein’s free 1950’s adaptation. The music is trickier than it sounds; let’s hope the Hypos don’t trip. JA
