The Illinois Safe School Alliance (The Alliance) hosted a spring break party March 11 at Sidetrack, 3349 N. Halsted, to raise funds for Illinois’ LGBT youth for the Day of Silence—the nation’s largest student-led leadership program against anti-gay and anti-gender violence in schools.

According to the organization’s Web site, “The Alliance’s mission is to promote safety, support and healthy development for LGBTQ youth in Illinois schools and communities, through advocacy, education, youth organizing and research.”

The 2009 Day of Silence will be held on April 17. For information on how to become involved, visit www.illinoissafeschool.org.
