The celebrity cook off event has proved successful for co-chairs Jeff Grinspoon and Jon Foley. Together they developed the culinary idea and hosted the first couple of events in the kitchen of their Lincoln Park home. Gina Reiss, vice-President of development said, “TrueChild is a new organization that has been formed by concerned parents, built on the intellectual capital of GPAC (GenderPac), and rooted in 15 years of new breakthrough academic research on the harms that gender stereotypes harm children.” The event raised over $55,000 for TrueChild. The Chopping Block, 222 Merchandise Mart, hosted TrueChild’s (formerly GenderPac) 5th Annual Chicago Celebrity Cook Off with former Top Chef contestants Carla Hall and Stefan Richter April 4. The event, hosted by the entertaining duo of Amy Armstrong and Freddy Allen, also featured Kimpton chefs’ Chris Lateano (South Water Kitchen) and Luca Corazzina (312 Chicago), with panel judge Heather Terhune (Atwood Café).
