Secondly, please support all your local queer business and local queer artists. You have the tremendous benefit of living in a true hub of creativity and invention. See a gallery show, rock out to some queer punk, laugh your gay ass off at some queer comedy, etc. Hopefully this Pride issue celebrating local queer creative types will nudge you firmly in that direction.

When genuine pistol Lori Cannon calls, you gotta accept the charges! She hipped me to the fact that she, along with all the good folks from Vital Bridges/Northside Grocery Center were going to be collecting food and personal care items at Sidetrack’s 27th anniversary party. As some of you may remember, the quickest way to raise my hackles is to ask me if I’m from… well… the other papers. Luis here left my hackles intact when he picked me out of the crowd at Little Jim’s and told me how much he loved NIGHTSPOTS. Good job, Luis! Here is your reward: two weeks of semi-fame as an item in That Guy. Don’t let it go to your head.
How cute are Ashley and I in our baby blues? “Reasonably” is the correct answer, although I would have accepted “so damn.” He showed up to support the finalist from Mary’s Attic in the Windy City Gay Idol finals at Sidetrack. Who won? Check out page 34 to see.
